Licensed General Contractor in the state of Georgia
This past weekend was a stressful yet exciting one. I sat the Georgia State Licensing Board’s 2-part, 6 hour exam to become a licensed General Contractor for my family’s construction and developing company. For years out of college and before working in television home improvement, I was my dad’s right hand gal for building his 65,000-80,000 SF office buildings. After shifting into television, I wasn’t able to do as much work for him due to scheduling and such. In 2008, the state laws changed in Georgia regarding who could pull permits and oversee jobs ranging from residential to unlimited commercial projects. After much discussion, my father asked if I would consider coming back to help him by getting my GC license with no limitations on projects that I could build. I took up the challenge and after weeks and weeks of studying, sitting a prep class and taking sample tests to prepare, I took the Law portion of the test on Friday (50 questions) and the Trades portion of the test of Saturday (100 questions). I am happy to report that I passed both tests missing only five questions total for both tests. I am thrilled to pieces and so is my dad (and that’s the best part of all!)

Hey Jodi,
Way to go. It’s in your blood so why fight.
I’m sure you made your dad very happy to have you back at side over looking things.
